Our Policies

Are we accepting new patients?

We are accepting new clients with a new kitten, puppy or pet adoption who have not yet taken the pet elsewhere for veterinary care. We do honor adoption center first visit exam certificates. We are not taking new clients transferring patients from other veterinarians (including in-store vaccination clinics) at this time. All surgical and end-of-life services are limited to established patients in good standing.

After hours and Emergency Visits:

Dr. Bedell provides after hours emergency services only for his current patients Current patients are those whose records have been transferred to LVC and have been seen by Dr. Bedell within the prior twelve (12) months for their annual wellness exam and vaccinations. New patients are required to come in for their wellness exam and vaccinations within twelve months of their first visit to continue to qualify for after hours emergency care. After hours emergency services are provided at Dr. Bedell's discretion. Dr. Bedell reserves the right to refer patients to other emergency hospitals or specialized service providers based on his ability to respond and/or provide the necessary care.

Office Financial Policy:

All payments for services, procedures, and materials are expected on the day of the appointment. There will be a $50 fee for all returned checks. There will a $10 fee for any held check payments (special considerations only, arrange in advance of the appointment). Please notify our office 24 hours in advance if unable to keep an appointment (48 hours notice is required to cancel a surgical appointment); there is a $55 fee for late cancellations and no shows. In the event an account has an open balance, there is a $5 monthly billing fee. If payment on a delinquent account is not made within 90 days, the account will go to collections. In the event your account is referred to a collection agency, you will be responsible for all fees incurred for the collection of your bill; this includes attorney fees, court costs, and collection agency fees.

Credit Card Policy:

Credit card prices are 3% more than cash or check prices. We will show you both prices at checkout for comparison.

We require 24 hours notice to cancel a regular appointment and 48 hours notice to cancel a surgery appointment. Cancelations with shorter notice and no shows are subject to service charges.

Record Transcription Fees

If your pet is a patient at Lima Veterinary Center and you choose to have vaccinations and other non-emergency services done elsewhere, the records are required to be sent to Lima Veterinary Center to keep your pet records here up to date. There is a $15 record transcription fee each time a pet record needs to be updated in our system. Please note, if your pets vaccinations are done elsewhere, your pet is ineligible for emergency services at Lima Veterinary Center. You may use a community rabies clinic without disqualifying for emergency services, but the $15 transcription fee applies.
